Smart Growth America

NPR just aired a piece about urban sprawl and transportation costs this morning…which tied in perfectly with aspects of the press release I put out last Thursday. Smart Growth America was cited as one of the references in the NPR piece.

At the Center for Neighborhood Technology website you can see The Housing + Transportation Affordability Index: “developed by CNT and its collaborative partners, the Center for Transit Oriented Development (CTOD), is an innovative tool that measures the true affordability of housing. Planners, lenders, and most consumers traditionally measure housing affordability as 30 percent or less of income. The Housing + Transportation Affordability Index, in contrast, takes into account not just the cost of housing, but also the intrinsic value of place, as quantified through transportation costs.”

Yesterday I mentioned that The Bloomington Alternative has published my press release. It is also featured on Sophia for Commissioner…and supplemental online reading related to it can be found in the past few days’ pin-the-tail entries.
