Back home again

in Indiana!

I returned home late Saturday night, early Sunday morning. It does feel good to be home and it seems that in the past two weeks that the fall season has really changed the mood. I think I’ve said it before, but the fleeting fall is my favorite time of year.

Crisp autumn leaves, newly elected officials, apple cider time, etc.!

My little laptop seems to be churning and boiling over sorting e-mails, files, pdfs, jpgs, etc.! I think it’s going to explode! My father sent me a file that is what he calls, “a gazillion gazoogabytes,” and maybe some of you p-t-t readers will enjoy this bit of a personal connection news item:

During the ten day expedition Mr. Fluck Mill and I took around the U.S. via train, another event took place that was special for civilians in public service…and among the civilians honored, was my father! He was awarded the 3rd Department of Defense David O. Cooke Excellence in Public Administration Award; the 52nd Annual Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award!

So that’s my main news for today…here’s a close-up of the medal:

For me, here in Indiana, County Council beckons, Plan Commission has serious work as always—- and finishing out this part of the year with County Council is actually one of the more demanding times of our cycle of responsibilities. I think that it is just the deeply imprinted feeling of wanting everything to be “wrapped with a bow” before starting a new year—I know that’s hardly any different than what everyone likes at year’s end no matter what calling they answer to…with the past three years having gone so fast, it’s just something I haven’t quite gotten used to!
