Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Chris Gaal for Monroe County Prosecutor!!

Come out this Thursday for a chance to talk and meet with Chris, hear some good music, and to learn more about the community centered justice initiatives of Prosecutor Gaal.
When Chris took office he hit the ground running with efforts to turn the office of the Prosecutor into a much more proactive place where prevention is a key critical aspect of addressing crimes. He launched programs to address drunk driving– quickly followed by a campaign of programs for addressing crimes against the elderly. These successful public programs became a template for finally being able to build dynamic coalitions from within the justice system and out in the community in order to tackle chronic issues concerning the sensitive, and complex, nature of sex crimes. He’s increased attention to victim’s assistance and implemented programming which properly trains all the front line professionals who must help with the proper collection of evidence in sex crimes. Law enforcement officials, nurse practitioners, counselors, are now able to participate in Sexual Assault Response Training (SART) programs thanks to Chris’ efforts.
The office needs advocacy for funding and consciousness raising towards taxpayers understanding that investment up front pays off in the long run with such programming– something I witnessed first hand while serving on the County Council. Unfortunately not everyone, including people who shape policy and allocate funding (the Council) value or understand this. Chris has always been up to the difficult task of fighting for funding and justifying investment in community centered justice programs through his ability to communicate effectively. He has a fearless drive to convey the importance of facing the hard issues that many people would rather turn away from.
Chris works tirelessly to ensure that community leaders, citizens, and many colleagues within County Government can see the positive outcomes of his care and attention to tough and painful issues.
He does this all while being a very positive and focused person. We’re really blessed to have benefitted from his public service thus far; our community is safer as a result of his passion for the work he does on our behalf. A seasoned public servant, he’s really in his element as our elected Prosecutor– let’s make sure he stays elected so he can keep up the good work!
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention also that Chris has a slammin’ staff of people in his office who make everything he does possible. Kudos to them– they’re a great reflection of all it takes to actualize the campaign promises Chris has made to his constituents.
