Tuesday, March 31st, 2009Last Friday I heard Beverly Calender-Anderson read this Proclamation at a kickoff luncheon on campus at Indiana University:

Cool! Here’s a nice press release detailing the start to this year’s Indiana University based celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month: IU celebration of diverse Asian cultures, history and peoples begins Friday
One of the key events coming up is the visit of writer Jennifer 8. Lee, author of The Fortune Cookie Chronicles. I like this teaser on her website:
“The book is a tribute to immigrants and to America. If our benchmark for Americanness is apple pie, ask yourself, how often do you eat apple pie? Now how often do you eat Chinese food?”
And she blogs too: The Fortune Cookie Chronicles
Hmmm. Suddenly I’m craving steamed dumplings…
